GFW Spots Trends: "Arm Parties!"

After catching a fellow fashion intern rocking an arm party fit for Kate Spade herself, I started noticing not just arm parties, but finger parties and neck parties.

It seemed like everyone at the GFW Model Casting Call this past Sunday was piling wrap bracelets on top of their over-sized watches. We definitely took notice to the trend, and we liked it so much that had to share it to our blog followers.

Check out our Social Media Intern, Lauren Gonzalez, and her colorful arm party! She boldly mixed a handmade chevron friendship bracelet with a super chunky Michael Kors tortoise watch and several girly Kate Spade bangles. You make us proud, Lauren!

In an effort to find the coolest, chicest, and most unique arm party companions, I find myself obsessively stalking the fashion pages on Pinterest almost daily. I love stumbling upon posts that go into great detail on how to make your own wild bracelets.

I love these colorful DIY wrap bracelets; they’re a sure way to spice up your day. My favorites are the elementary school-style chevron string friendship bracelets. With the tribal trend also making a comeback this spring, these bracelets really give every outfit a not-so-subtle punch of funk.

As if Pinterest isn’t already filling my dreams with rhinestones and tribal chevrons, Florida-based jewelry designers Danielle and Jodie Snyder, with their daring jewelry line, Dannijo, have been mastering the art of the arm party for quite some time now. Click here to check ‘em out!

With Gainesville Fashion Week’s Model Casting Calls coming to an end, we are getting more and more excited for April’s events! Look out for model call backs next Wednesday, February 1st!

Casting Call Diaries: Walk the Walk!

Saving the best for last, the runway walk was the final station. No task makes a model more anxious. The walk itself is a “make it or break it” situation, so luckily many of the models practiced at our Official Runway Walk Workshop a few days earlier.

Sarah Jackson and Meshi Shoshana, GFW veterans, were part of the Runway Walk judging panel. They witnessed every strut, stop and spin.

Also assisting with judging were team members Yadia Suarez, Whitney Smith, Minh Bui and Natalie Karaoglanian at the end of the runway, waiting for the models to come toward them and make a real HOT impression. Tunes were bumping and the mood was positive and upbeat!
Our team has been working vigorously in the model selection process, but you guys made it a very hard task for our team to decide who we want to see again Wednesday for our callbacks. Wanna see who made it back? Well your just going to have to wait for our
next blog sesh on the Casting Diaries!

Casting Call Diaries: Models Measure Up!

If there’s one all you fashion-forward fans know, it’s that posing is perhaps one of the most essential talents model should have in his/her Birkin of tricks.

Before the scrutiny of the catwalk, potential new models needed to get some basics down first. The headshot, body shot (no, it’s not what it sounds like...) and measurements must be taken. Assisting our wonderful photographer, were these two lovely interns, Kelsie and Amy.

Their role was instrumental to the behind-the-scene organization of the casting call.

After the photo station, models moved along to get their measurements taken. Interns, Mary, Sammy, Karina and Assistant Producer and Kristi were in charge of taking accurate and consistent measurements. It’s a tough job, just someone’s gotta do it, and I know our team was far from complaining! Keep following for more on our casting diaries!

The Casting Diaries Pt.1: GFW Welcome's Hotties!

Sunday from 12 a.m. to 5 p.m. the hottest people in Gainesville flocked to neutral7 signs & graphics for the Gainesville Fashion Week Casting Call. The weather was almost as fabulous as the people there!

The GFW crew set up and prepared for the day’s events and broke up into stations. As the models came in, they were greeted by these lovely ladies:

We spotted some of our hot team members outside awaiting the flock of sexiness to approach neutral7. From left to right we have our talent director the beautiful Jennie Clark; our social media coordinator, Alina Torres; intern, Nadine Korioth and lastly our
other talent director Kristine Straker.

DJ Klarc Shepard was spinning all day long, mixing some major jams. After checking in with our girls and on Facebook with their phones, the models waited to head inside
where the real fun would begin!

Even their style was hot! Potential models were decked out for the Casting Call. Check out these red booties...does she get bonus points for wearing a GFW color? Perhaps you’ll find out in part 2 of the Casting Call Diaries!

GFW Takes Over Midtown

The Gainesville Fashion Week crew went on another promo adventure and hit up the Midtown area last night, handing out "HOT CARDS" to those worthy enough of walking down our catwalk.

To kick off the night, the fashion mob met on the front lawn of The Swamp Restaurant for a bite to eat, all dawning their new turquoise and red GFW V-Necks.

After a quick snack, it was playtime for the crew as we took over Cantina, sprinkling "HOT CARDS" everywhere. We met lots of potential catwalkers and even realized that our "HOT CARDS" are the perfect complement to a fishbowl. Who knew red and turquoise could look so HOT?
On our recruiting adventure the team made another pit-stop to local bar, BALLS, where we even found local celebrity Squirrel with a HOT! CARD! Everyone wanted to get their hands on one.

Midtown’s new hangout spot, O!O, was in full swing when the fashion crew arrived. With our stash of cards dwindling, we had to select the hotties wisely.

The Gainesville community better be well aware that Gainesville Fashion Week is back in full swing and hotter than ever! So, hotties, start working on your best Blue Steel, and get your strut up to par, because we’re coming for you!

GFW’s 2012 Model Casting Call is this Sunday, January 22nd, from 12-5 pm at neutral7 signs & graphics. See you there!

GFW Kicks-off With Walking Workshop!

There couldn’t have been a hotter kick-off event to Gainesville Fashion Week 2012 than last night’s Official Walking Workshop. Between everyone’s excitement and the music pumping through the speakers the energy was alive!

The workshop started at 7 p.m. at the beautiful venue Jolie Events, next to ZUZU. After a few words from Producer Albey Coronel and Assistant-Producer Kristi Desoiza, the veteran models taught everyone new to GFW what the walk was all about. First they were broken up into smaller groups, getting some one-on-one time with the modeling coaches. After, they used what they learned to impress us all with complete run-through.

By the end of night they were gliding and striding with attitude! Lights flashed as photographers captured every fierce move. Nothing could better prepare them for the big day on Sunday...the Model Casting Call!

Before you gear up for Sunday fabulous event, make sure you check out our Facebook page for details on the event and pictures from the workshop. See you Sunday!
